Peter loves music, he always has, but the music that Peter has loved the most was quite often created before his time. It is in quiet times, listening to the music of those come and those sometimes gone, that he has long felt most comfortable and dare he say nostalgic. It seems it is indeed possible to be nostalgic for times of which you were not yet even a sparkle in your mother’s eye.
Fed on much warm sunshine and his father’s extensive vinyl collection Peter soon was writing his own music. This music too was somehow of another time and place but it was always from a place of truth. He looked to the great songwriters for wisdom. James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Jeff Buckley, The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, they became a guiding force in his musical journey. And of course there was Hank Williams…
It was during his work on the musical Hank Williams: Lost Highway portraying Hank Williams Sr. that Peter began to really study the work of the late and great Mr. Williams. Certainly he had known of this music before, but it wasn’t until he was living in the story of it everyday that he began to truly fall in love. With hundreds of sold out performances of that musical now under his belt, he still hasn’t gotten enough.
Recent theatrical credits include Hank Williams in HANK WILLIAMS: LOST HIGHWAY (Clarence Brown Theatre), Paul Clayton in SEARCH: PAUL CLAYTON (Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse, and Off Broadway) JUNO (Timeline Theatre), Giorgio in PASSION (Theo Ubique – Jeff Award Best Musical), SEE WHAT I WANNA SEE (Bailiwick/Steppenwolf) as well as a sold out runs as Hank Williams in HANK WILLIAMS: LOST HIGHWAY at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park (LCT Award Best Lead Actor, Musical) and at the Merry Go Round Playhouse in central New York with George Wendt.
